The WorkCentre is connected to your system using standard USB2 connections. It can also use the parallel printer connection or the 10/100 Base T Ethernet connection. This should allow association with nearly any system you may have.

As equipped, the machine has a 100 sheet bypass tray and a 550 sheet standard tray. An optional 550 sheet tray can be added to the machine to allow for storage of up to 1,200 sheets of paper at one time. The 550 sheet trays allow addition of a full 500 sheet ream of paper to be added when paper is low. The maximum print cycle is 20,000 sheets per month and the total recommended print cycle is 7,500 sheets per month.

Your first copy will drop into the output tray in under 8 seconds. After that time prints are produced at 22 ppm. Faxes may be sent at three pages per second. There is a delayed fax transmission feature that allows you to send large faxes when phone rates are cheaper and a battery back up that will store faxes for up to 100 hours if there is ever a power failure.

This machine produced by Xerox offers a print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. You do have the option of up to 1200 x 1200 interpolated print resolution. The proffered 600 x 600 dpi resolution is almost a minimum standard for printers today and is certainly sufficient for black prints. Additionally, scan resolution is also the 600 x 600 dpi and fax resolution is offered at up to 400 x 400 dpi.

For an internal processor there is a 32 bit RISC processor. The processor contains video controller functionality. While this processor seems small when compared to many of today's color printers, it is sufficient for the monochrome printer being offered by Xerox. The 80 MB of memory also offers enough memory for up to 200 fax numbers.

Media it prints on include plain paper, envelopes, labels and transparencies. Paper sizes can be any where from 5 x 7 to 8 1/2 x 14. The machine can automatically select the correct paper size.

The machine features halftone grayscale printing which can save toner. Rather than copies with large areas of black printing, the gray scale allows prints to use less Xerox laser toner (http://www.qtoner.us/Xerox-WorkCentre-Series-Toner) but still be readable. This can both save on toner and make better copies.

The Xerox WorkCentre M20i printer is a business machine that is multifunction. It is able to print, scan, copy and fax. Medium size workgroups will find that it is adequate to meet their needs. While prints are all in black, the machine does have the capability of scanning in color. It also offers several features that are not found in machines that are just printers. It is not a color printer, so if you must have color prints, check out some of the other Xerox machines.
